Dan Lohrmann, CISO, State of Michigan

Dan Lohrmann was appointed as Michigan’s first CISO in May 2002.>  He also serves as the Director of Michigan’s Office of Enterprise Security within the Michigan Department of Information Technology (DIT). Dan is co-chair of Michigan’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Committee, and he chairs the Cyber-Security Sub-Committee within Michigan’s Homeland Protection Board. Dan is the President of Michigan InfraGard for 2006.

Dan is a frequent speaker throughout the country on cybersecurity and Homeland Security issues. In April 2006, he was selected as Information Security Executive of the Year (central USA) by the Executive Alliance (see: www.infosecaward.com ).

Serving as the State representative for the National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO), Dan sits on the Department of Homeland Security’s IT Government Coordinating Council (GCC).

Prior to accepting this position in May 2002, Dan was the Chief Technology Executive for e-Michigan, the agency responsible for e-government in Michigan. Dan has over 22 years’ experience in the computer industry, beginning with the National Security Agency (NSA) in Washington, D.C.>  He spent seven years in England as both a senior network engineer for Lockheed Martin followed by IT Director for ManTech International on a US/UK military base.>  In1997, Dan moved to Michigan where he served as CIO and IT Services Director for the Michigan Department of Management and Budget. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science (CS) from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and a Bachelors Degree in CS from Valparaiso University in Indiana.> 

Greg Avesian, VP, Enterprise IT Security, Textron, Inc.

Greg Avesian is the Vice President of Enterprise IT Security for Textron, Inc., a $10B>  multi-industry company with more than 44,000 employees in nearly 40 countries.>  Textron is known around the world for its powerful brands such as Bell Helicopter, Cessna Aircraft, Jacobsen, Kautex, Lycoming, E-Z-GO and Greenlee, among others. Greg has global responsibilities for Textron’s Information Security and IT Risk Management programs.>  He is a member of Textron’s Information Management Council and Global Leadership Team.

Before assuming his current position in March 2002, Greg was Vice President of Information Systems for Textron’s $3B automotive business segment, a position he held since joining Textron in 1998.

Prior to joining Textron, Greg spent 14 years at Chrysler Corporation.>  While at Chrysler, he held numerous information and engineering technology-related positions, culminating in his final position as Manager of the Technical Computer Center.>  Before joining Chrysler, Greg spent 2 years at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center where he provided computer programming and simulation support to members of the scientific research team.

Greg received his BS and MS degrees from the University of Michigan and his Executive MBA from Michigan State University.>  He has completed Textron's Global Leadership development program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.>  Greg is a member of the Engineering Society of Detroit and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.>   He has achieved the following professional certifications:>  CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) and Six Sigma Green Belt.
