Experts from BASF, the world’s leading chemical company will explain the different aspects of REACH, focusing on its specific impact on the affected industries and practice-based recommendations. The webinar is aimed at companies from all sectors, regardless of their size and position in the supply chain.
The webinar will give participants the opportunity to profit directly from BASF’s expertise. BASF itself is affected by REACH, with a large number of substances and in every role – as a manufacturer, importer and downstream user – which is why it has worked with REACH from the very beginning and prepared intensively for its implementation. With its worldwide network of experts, BASF is also in a position to make other companies “ready for REACH”.
REACH is the new EU chemicals regulation which has entered into force on June 1, 2007. It is a system for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. Not only manufacturers located in the EU are affected by the chemicals regulation. Manufacturers outside the EU must also come to terms with REACH if they want to market their products to the EU.
Manufacturers outside the EU in principal have the possibility of having their substances from non-EU countries registered with the European Chemicals agency (ECHA) by their own agent (company) within the EU by importers or by an Only Representative (Article 8). Registration through importers, however, has certain disadvantages! For example:
- Several importers: Considerable effort is required for coordination and communication between the non-EU manufacturer and the importers.
- A single importer (sole importer): All customers in the EU are restricted to one single supplier in order to purchase the manufacturer’s product.
- Confidential data are passed on within the manufacturer’s own supply chain
The following topics will be covered:
1. REACH in a brief overview
2. Pre-registation started 1st of June 2008 - Immediate actions required
3. Possiblities for non-EU manufacturers
4. Communication requirements
5. Overview of success and services
Join this important session where the BASF Success Team will share best practices which companies can’t afford to miss!
