Business continuity standards such as NFPA1600 have been an effective tool to complement existing organizational resilience programs. Emerging globally-relevant standards such as BS 25999 and ISO 22399 also are valuable to organizations with international operations and outreach and co-exist with the new national consideration of Title IX of Public Law 110-53. Updates will be provided on key business continuity standards initiatives, both national and internationally, as well as how recent legislation and a proposed accreditation / certification program can impact the work of business continuity professionals. The emergency preparedness and business continuity standards environment is constantly evolving, therefore links will be provided for in-depth information and how to engage in key standards initiatives.
Dedicated tools exist to support standards-based BCM programs and enable self-certification and compliance. We will discuss these facilities and show how Shadow-Planner has been able to reduce compliance costs and enhance corporate resilience. |
