    Eshetu Wondemagegnehu

    Mr. Eshetu Wondemagegnehu is a pharmacist by profession and works as the Technical Officer and Focal Person for Combating Counterfeit Drugs in the Division of Quality Assurance & Safety: Medicines (QSM), World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva. He joined WHO in 1994 and his main area of work is to provide technical support to WHO Member States to strengthen national medicine regulation and quality assurance capacity and to combat counterfeiting of medicines. Before joining WHO, Mr. Wondemagegnehu worked under different capacities for the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia for 25 years, including as Head of the Drug Quality Control Laboratory and Head of the Drug Regulatory Authority. He has traveled extensively to Asia and Africa to assist countries and has participated in several international meetings on counterfeit drugs. He has also done studies in the area of counterfeit and substandard drugs as well in the area of drug regulation. Mr. Wondemagegnehu has a B. Pharm. and Msc. in Pharmaceutical chemistry.

    Dr. Peter Rost is the Vice President, Marketing, Endocrine Care, at Pfizer Inc. Dr. Rost is a physician and pharmaceutical industry executive with Pfizer, who has been outspoken on the high cost of medicine and the importation of cheaper medication from other countries. Dr. Rost earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, January 1984.

    Dr. Rost speaks as a private citizen and does not represent Pfizer in his talk.
